At Aurora estate in Epping North, it took 11 years for a bus route to start running. Back in , homebuyers there were told the train would arrive within 10 years. It has not. The timeline has now pushed out to at least another 15 years, and there is no longer the promise of a train — only "transport links".
Victoria's Department of Transport said it was working to meet the increased demand for public transport "by planning new and extended bus routes, more frequent trains and new rail links which better connect people right across Melbourne's outer west". More on:. I just compared it to my local council and you have 3x as much crime in every statistic that they track.
Just because you like living there doesn't make it a safe place to live. Truganina is one of the best options. Around 8 child care centre. Really good houses ,with lot of space. Locality is safe and with Tarneit vline station in For money, saftey and space.
I used to rent in truganina for 5 years, it has the same issue of owners neglecting the cleanliness around the house. Nature strips aren't taken care of, plus tbh truganina in my opinion is not a well established area by developers I think it has failed to create a road safe community, look around you is there even a proper pedestrian path to every where you want to walk?
Sometimes you will have to walk on the road and with kids and hooning that's insane and unsafe! Unfortunatly the area is filling up fast with stupid bogans, I moved here from Altona north to save money, I regret the move so much. I am not muslim, but I do not recomend Tarneit to anyone at all, I will always advise to stay away from this area. I am only a visitor too my sister lives there and the roads are quite congested and dangerous.
There are not many walking tracks, and you need to drive everywhere. Tarneit isn't an area high on the socioeconomic scale, as a result there is more crime and race related incidents. All in all I think you'll be fine, but if you want a greater sense of community I would rent in Altona North. Good luck! Yes it is in the older parts, I would live in the city side of Tarneit closer to Morris Rd.
It is a new area but the crime rate there is quite high. I would recommend Point Cook as it has much better facilities and much more child friendly. Muslims are welcome is most areas Point Cook is one dead road! I work their and its always congested! Most of those lovely big houses are owned buy drug lords! Haven't you heard the news?! CRIME is everywhere so don't you just point only to one area! Point Cook has so many problems. It is still within the city of Wyndham, and the traffic is a major issue.
I am on PC community fb page and they are always complaining about crime, vandalism, traffic etc. This week Tarneit, next week somewhere else. The media love to make everything a crisis. I am only a visitor there but a few things would concern me a lot. The first are the roads. They are badly made and signposted and poorly lit at night. They have had lots of fatal accidents. The second is that there does not seem to be very much of a community spirit. I am sure lots of lovely people live there including Muslims but it seems that people do not mix enough.
Maybe because there are not enough walking tracks or nice shopping centres. I have also heard of lots of race related attacks that are centred around Werribee. I know a few of my friends who were attacked at night. Thats because theres alot of idiots who dont know how to drive. The ones that lock eyes with you as they cut you off at the last minute through roundabouts.
Anyone that suggest Tarneit is a safe place to live is either renting on the cheap in a cheap built mansion style home or has plugged their last investment into concrete into the area.
Tarneit is 3x the rate of crime in every aspect they track compared to my current suburb. Tarneit is not safe to live and that is backed by data.
If you think it's a nice area great, but just because you like Tarneit doesn't mean it's a safe place to live for families. Great sense of culture, community and large intact police force not overwhelmed by having to control 27, of 37, population of immigrants. This area is supposed to be a very secure area, and we wouldnt expect these kinds of incidents to happen, she told Nine News.
Ajak Deng, 21 from Tarneit, was charged with home invasion, theft of a motor vehicle, recklessly causing serious injury and intentionally causing injury. Latest home invasion from Point Cook was caused by what we call out east "Tarneitans". Ive read all your comments here and its very obvious all you gotta say about Tarneit are negative things! Did something happen to you here?
Or are you a real estate agent from somewhere in the East? Or youre just insecure about a booming suburb in the West? Im curious now which suburb you are currently living in and can you guarantee that your suburb is the safest! We bought a house here in Tarneit and every time we go out, all we see are families, young professional couples and kids. We feel very safe as we have home security cameras and alarms installed in our house.
Crimes are everywhere. What Im trying to say is that if you want peace of mind, then buy these home security devices as if youre installing a smoke alarm! I was once like you Shannon, so happy to be involved with a booming suburb. I purchased a house in Tarneit and thought the world of the area. Then, 1 year into our stay I was held up by four armed youths who robbed me blind in and beat me down in the street in front of my young children.
I've seen all this positivity about living in Tarneit and it's utter rubbish and I know first hand! It's only from people who have sunk their money into the concrete there just like me that think the place is great, I was once one of them, how nave I was. All the best to you Shannon hopefully the suburb with the highest crime rate in every statistic tracked on the police website doesn't affect you physically and mentally like it did me.
And glad you've read all my comments, the more I can spread the truth about the area based on government statistics, the better informed people will be and hopefully I save someone before the make the horrendous mistake I did.
Hope that helps guys! Tarneit,Truganina and Wyndvale Vale are areas that have no business for honest citizens, and certainly not for civilised families. Crime by you know who dominates the area. Crime in the area can be considered nocturnal being paramount at dusk and dawn.
Police show an indifference and you will be received with an unsympathetic response if you happen to seek to report a crime after being a victim. Crimes are not reported in the media, and are factored down in the crime statistics.

There is so much more now than what there was when we first moved here. It has been great watching this suburb emerge from a country style place to a lively city, the only thing I miss is the peace and quiet. It has changed from quiet to extremely busy with all the shopping centres and the roads are so full, traffic has becoming a daily routine.
Generally speaking I think its the people that create this vibrant suburb. We have many new migrants, many young families, some oldies including myself!
If you are looking for a good suburb in Melbourne where everything is within an arms reach then this is a good choice. Hopefully with the increased population the infrastructure will improve. Love Tarneit but miss the peace and quiet! I am quite surprised with some of these reviews. Yes unfortunately the crime rate has increased in Melbourne but this is everywhere, not just Tarneit.
Older parts of Tarneit with less rental properties have no issues with crime, they are well designed for families and neighbors are friendly, crime rate is low compared to other suburbs. Look up Victorian statistics, crime rates were worst in the inner city and in some regional cities.
In Tarneit we are lucky enough to have it all, schools nearby, shopping centres, walking tracks, great access to city via fast v-line train. Been here 5 years and we love it! Only good is train station.. We moved just over a year ago Lot if new estatrs coming up here. Tarneit has very bright future. The suburb itself is very planned. With lot of big roads and next road expansion project coming in. Regd crime, where it is not.
Check racv and vic gov crime statistics. That make it clear that Tarneit is much safer than other. And i believe that if it has to happen with you, it will be in any part of the world. Regd cafe, new estates coming with lot of cafe, restaurants and shopping options. Just got new cafe in stockland grove estate. One more coming by next year. Around Davis rd, new coles and many more cafe options in couple of years.
Many more private and public school options for the kids near to the house. We got goodnews, Grange P12 and Westbourne grammer near to our house. For me this is the suburb i was looking for. Heh, Tarneit has a bright future. I guess you mean when the suburb starts on fire due to race riots and African gang violence. Have you been reading the news? News and facts are a little different. News business is to get clicks, wont get a click of headline reads positive.
Small block of land Driving around Tarneit anytime is like driving through peak hour traffic every hours.. Tarneit will only be good for investment and not good to live in. If you look at realestate you can see for yourself there are a lot of rental properties listed That is my 2cents Recently moved here from WA.
This suburb has everything to offer from great parks near by and great big shopping centres round the corner with heaps of selection. Train station is very central and has heaps of parking for people going to work in the morning, not to mention the easy flowing accesibility in and out of the suburb.
This is a very family friendly suburb with lots to do. I am currently in the process of purchasing an established PPOR in the riverdale estate after renting here the last 6 months. I moved here 2 years ago. All the negative reviews here is not true. Can anyone explain which subrub is crime free. Even you buy 2 million dollars property. I love here living with my wife.
It's very close to two cities. It's growing very rapidly. This is the best time to move into the market. We moved from Sydney. This subrub is much much better than 1 million subrub in Sydney Blacktown. Just try to move to Sydney in Blacktown then you will realise what the meaning of crime. These negative reviews people are talking nonsense. We are renting a house near Tarneit road, so many shops and parks, pacific werribee nearby, safe for families no issues at all.
Clean area with neat tidy houses and lawns, really crime is everywhere in melbourne but I can say after living here for 2 years I have never seen anything unusual. People around are mainly business people working in city or trades people working in local area or laverton, we hope we will have enough for a deposit soon so we can buy here.
Community feeling is great and most people are friendly, typical australian suburb. You recommended tarneit to tourists lol. You a developer or homeowner? Trying to boost house prices?
Most people who review here write false reviews because they are invested in the area. I have lived in the area and could not get out faster. Please do actual data based research and you will see not everything is as rosy as it seems.
Tarneit and Truganina are quickly becoming crime and gang dens. Have to say this is correct. A ton of investors leaving glowing reviews to dupe buyers into thinking it's a safe sub to raise their families. That can be said about any suburb. Your comments are very uninformed and slandering. Statistics don't always tell us the full truth. There may have been 1 robbery in 1 year and then the following year there were 3. But hey, don't take my word for it.
Come and see for yourself. And if you dont want to catch a bus to the train station, find a house closer to itpretty stupid to make that a con since every suburb would be the same. There is t a train Station around every corner. Totally agree with you Faisal. Look, the real estate agents are offended with someone writing a REAL review! I got punched by junkies that stole my wallet. I walk the pram around the streets and walk paths in Truganina and see other families doing the same, no junkies.
Allura is a nice part of Truganina. The streets usually look really nice and all the houses are pretty. There's usually plenty of parks and transport around too. Nothing bad has happened when I lived there but I have heard of more crimes recently on the news such a break ins and stabbings etc.
It's hard to find a decent sized house with a decent sized backyard with out spending a lot on rent. The positives sides are - open spaces, multi multiculturalism, lots of Food and Shopping options, Close to a V-line station and overall a calm quite place.
There has been an influx of hoons or negatively influenced kids, but not so much to be concerned. There has been quite a few break-ins around the area, which seemingly is done considering rich occupants have lots of cash lying around. Problems of a still new suburb I believe. Overall still happy with the place. Hi Ajith I booked in The Grove. Not sure is ot good decision. Is ir safe for family?
We really love living here! After living in Richmond for many years this was the best thing we ever did after having the kids. Safe, sound, clean, everything within easy reach, parks, walking tracks, childcare, medical centres, shopping centres. There really is no crime, the only thing that you hear of sometimes is newer houses getting break-ins but these are houses that have no neighboors, basically in the middle of nowhere. If you have a family and you want a quality lifestyle move to Tarneit, it really is a fantastic place with a good caring community and friendly hard working people!
We have lived here for the last 4 years and though quite hesitant about the reviews we found trying it ourselves has been great as we have no regrets and are now looking at buying. There are very few negative things about Tarneit, if you don't like multiculturism then you shouldn't be here.
The rate of crime is low compared to other suburbs in Melbourne, it is not far from the city and train from Tarneit to CBD is just 26 minutes with only a few stops compared to other areas that are closer but it takes longer. Our street has many young families with kids which is so nice to see them playing together.
Big selection of schools and child care centres and shopping centres. Peaceful and quiet place to live. If you buy a house on a new estate with no neighboors then yes there will be break ins but this does not happen in the more populated areas. When you walk down the streets you see mainly families and people enjoying life. We love the parks and being close to the coast and the big shopping centre Pacific Werribee. We have never felt unsafe here. People are kind and happy to help. This suburb is growing so fast and is getting expensive, we hope to find something soon that we an afford.
We love Tarneit, have lived here for 6 years now. People are friendly, so many shops, restaurants, great schools to choose from, 26 minute train trip to city, close to the coast, great walking tracks and parks and so much more.
Our street is so quiet and we have lovely neighbors, very family friendly. The houses are getting much smaller now and very expensive which is a shame. We are lucky we got in early. Family of 4 including 2 young kids Need suggestions Plz help. It really depends on the estate you move and your nationality , some estates are generally ethnically diverse such as Ecovile and Moorokyle which consists of the crime completely increasing over the years , the problem is the youth.
Id recommended Rose Grange Trugguanina area of Tarneit which is the most safest and it quite. I'm moving to a new estate named habitats km from train station. Hi QK My sister bought a house and land package in Habitat last year and she will move there this November. We love this area which is surrounded by many shoppping centres, child care, school, medical center, tarneit station and other 2 proposed station. U dont need to worry about flood torn since council there spend a lot of fund for upgrade construction.
How amazing right? Habitat estate's extremely beautiful with natural creek and a lot of green space. Ur kids would defintely love it :. Agree, I moved to Tarneit few years back and it is being amazing. It is so connected to CBD unlike East. You have all hardworking young families around.
Im moving to habitat soon as my house is in completion stage. Have been going around talking with neighbour, and it seems to be very nice and quiet since the size of the land is small and houses are close to each other which bring the neighbourhood closer.
I am planning to build there later in the year. Any info please. I have lived in Tarneit for 7 years at start it was great was peaceful and quiet, weren't many youths roaming around, However ever since it has completely gone downhill with estates becoming multicultural zones. Estates like The Heartlands, , Moorookyle, Tarneit Gardens and Ecoville etc is fluid, spanning ethnic communities and disparate neighbourhoods. Although these ethnically diverse neighbourhoods it has become a ground zone for crime and conflict.
I have lived in Tarneit for 12 years. Prior to that I had lived in Hoppers Crossing 3 years and prior to that in Richmond 10 years. Tarneit and its surrounding areas are growing at a rapid pace. New Estates with the the latest modern homes being built. I have lost count how many schools in the area but there are many - private and public and religious.
Childcare facilities - there are plenty of them. In addition to that , the area has nearly every top Retail franchise outlets. Think of a retailer , it is within 5klm from Tarneit. The area has a huge car sales area with all the common car makes.
The suburb is an area which has the best facilities - there is no other suburb like it. I don't mind being a few klm from the facilities as this gives the area less traffic in my local estate. Now I am an immigrant , and I believe in Multiculturalism, Tarneit would have people from all over the world.
And like all high growth mini cities - there will be issues. Remember it's the effort we all make that makes our suburb a better place to live. I do not appreciate people talking about classes and race , we are all the same in God's eyes. We moved from Tarneit last week after five years of living on Reflections. Initially it was not too bad but then some owner occupiers moved out and bogan renters moved in and it became a different story.
The community spirit was soon gone and replaced with open drug dealing police don't care mini motorbikes, remote controlled cars amongst some of the regular nuisances endured. It is a LOW socioeconomic area, which will attract people looking for a cheap rental with little in the way of common respect for other people. Wyndham council admitted to me they are short staffed and cannot stop the idiots who insist on parking across nature strips, not looking after nature strips and making the neighbourhoods look quite third world.
On the two occasions I called the police to report domestic violence get used to it if you move to Tarneit, there is a lot of it I was almost laughed at, despite this being a topic very prominent in the media. I have friends on Rose Grange who absolutely hate it there, same thing renters, unfortunately as long as their neighbour insists on hanging washing on the weeds in the front garden they know it's useless to try and sell.
Try and get on the Vline after 7am, it's a joke. Try and get to the CBD in peak hour, hardly 30 minutes!!! Do yourself a favour and avoid this area like the plague. However if you have a thick skin, don't care about the effects on your family and don't mind all the above then go for it.
A future slum in the making, it will be the Broadmeadows of the west before long. Getting out of there has been an extreme relief. Are those bad things commonly seen around the Tarneit train station areas, such as corner of Leakes Road and Derrimut Road? I am planning to visit and live there for a while. Maybe you lived in a really bad neighbourhood, which part of Tarneit was that?
The train station may look very nice, but you will not get on a train after Hiya, me too would like to know which part of Tarneit gave you this bad experience. Its like any other growing suburb, Have its challanges but great to live,i have been living here from past 7 years with no issues.
Tarneit is has its pros and cons cons being high crime rate by the African community and drug dealing also the police patrollung tarneit non stop it has great houses plenty of schools and good parks. With fairly cheap homes, most people dressed in fluro industrial clothing, high crime rate, if it looks like a working-class suburb, chances are, it IS a working-class suburb. This suburb is the best near Werribee. I've lived in many suburbs of Melbourne including Clayton, Richmond and Footscray.
I recently moved to Tarneit three months ago and it is by far the best suburb I have lived in. The community is very kind and welcoming. Access to public transport, schools and shopping centres is very good although sometimes buses can come quite late , but overall it is a lovely suburb and I'd recommend to all people considering moving here.
Hi, we are also looking to move to Tarneit.. I'm due for a baby soon and we aren't sure which parts of Tarneit are the safest and quietest? We were looking at Moorookyle area but then were told that it's "rough" and not recommended.
So now we're confused! Please let me know which areas in Tarneit are the best : thanks! Seasons Estate is probably the best estate in Tarneit due to the larger blocks, and mainly owner occupiers living there.
I would also consider the new estate around the train station. Once the tarneit town centre is completed, it will be great. Good luck with your new baby. We are planning to buy a property in Tarneit gardens conargo avenue. Please share your thoughts about the estate and the street. Westbrook or Emerald Park estates in Tarneit will be the best in a few years time due to being right next to new train station, new town centre, and new schools.
Tarneit is a very friendly suburb, I get along with everyone. It is a fast developing community and has big potential. Suburb with a lot of potential. Buy while it's still affordable! Duplicatn of leakes rd means traffic will improve. Tarneit station is opening very soon. Close to williams landing and werribee project has been improved.
Moved from south east where houses are now overpriced.
